On Sunday, June 11th, the DAY OF JAZZ is celebrated in Matadepera, organized by the Fredi’s Jazz Band Association, with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band as the guest band. The DAY OF JAZZ in Matadepera promotes young talent in the field of Jazz.
The activities will start at 11:30 AM in front of the Casal de Cultura, next to the church of Matadepera, with a route to the main stage at Baldiró Square, where musicians from the Fredi’s Jazz Band and guest musicians will participate.
At 12:30 PM, the youngest members of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band will perform the first concert on the main stage of Baldiró Square. Following that, the youngest students of the Fredi’s Dixi Jazz Band, aged between 10 and 13, who are part of the Escola Frederic Mompou in Matadepera, will have their intervention until 2:00 PM.
From 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, there will be a joint lunch for both formations and guest musicians.
From 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Joan Chamorro, creator and director of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, will give a «Master Class» in the auditorium of the Casal de Cultura on how to pedagogically introduce young people to the love and excitement of Jazz music.
From 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM, a «Jam Session» will take place at Plaça del Casal de Cultura (s/ Pere Aldavert 4), aiming to create unity between young talents and experienced musicians. Prominent Jazz musicians from the country, such as Josep M. Farràs and Adrià Font, among others, will be part of it.
To conclude this «Jam Session,» they will all together perform a «Dixieland» piece as they make their way to the main stage at Baldiró Square.
At 8:00 PM, both formations will perform their respective concerts, and to conclude the DAY OF JAZZ in Matadepera, they will play a collective piece.
