Fredi’s Jazz Band

Fredi’s Jazz Band is a Jazz Big Band of young talents that wants to make people all over around to know their music. We started in the municipal School of Music Frederic Mompou in Matadepera (CAT/ES) in the year 2015 converted in a Musical Association since 2019

It is characterized by its creative, conceptual and improvised language. Making a repertoire of Big Band music going from the time of swing until our time, making a selection of instrumental and voice themes.

When you listen Fredi’s Jazz Band you find a lot of musical energy and a big complicity between musicians and the public.
We can enjoy as well as the solists making genial interpretations as the themes arranged at four voices, as well as at the end of the concert, the musicians descend from the stage to share music with the public.

MAKING THE DIFFERENCE

Musicians of Fredi’ s Jazz Band play from the deepness of their feelings and this is reflected with the sound of each instrument and also with the whole Big Band. When it goes about the creative fact, they search that improvisations are the result of not using established patterns of cliches, but searching by themselves lines of expression and not falling in musical preconceived ideas, that means, searching purity of the immediate.
As Enric Alegre, the director, says, “this musical language must be understood and played from the stomach, going through the heart, but never getting to the head. This music does not give place to thinking or reasoning it only has to be felt, we can say in a primary way”
Their repertoire is creative and conceptual and it includes, among others, composers as Charles Mingus and Oliver Nelson.

“Things flow without planning them too much.If you search and search and think a lot, even too much, you will obtain a result, but maybe it won ‘t be as pure, clean, or fresh, as all that comes out of the spontaneity of the first moment”.

And so the Fredi’s Jazz Band plays.
